valuable lessons I learned in my first 2 years of CCco
I’ve been a marketer for almost a decade, but an entrepreneur for only two short (and sometimes feel like long) years. And let me tell you, whoever said ‘marketing isn’t for the faint of heart’ hadn’t tried entrepreneurship. Combine them, and you’re in for a ride–one that has taught me *a lot* so far:
1) The way people behave on the first call is exactly how they will behave for the rest of your professional relationship
2) If you're not staying ahead of trends, you're already *far* behind
3) There's an app for everything (and I mean everything)
4) The most successful people will be the most supportive
5) Which, speaking of, asking them questions and listening to their advice will help-somehow, someway
6) There is always a typo. Keep checking until you find it
7) Discounting your prices and services will backfire 100% of the time (this excludes sales or promotional campaigns, obvi)
8) If you don't value your work, no one else will
9) Putting boundaries in place is easy, enforcing them is hard
10) Being creative is impossible without a good night's sleep
11 Separating work and personal communication (with an app or separate phone) will actually change your life
12) Don't leave for tomorrow what you can get done today. Something can and *will* always come up
13) While being professional is crucial, being human wins every time
14) Trust your gut, it is always right (about people, businesses, etc.)
