common website mistakes
Are you getting frustrated by your website? Are you not sure your audience is seeing value in your website? You might be making these website mistakes!
why is a website important?
Your website is a digital portfolio, meaning you need one so people can see the work you've done and the work you're doing. A website is also for people to see who you are as a brand and why they should buy products from you. An easy way to think about a website is like this: if I'm going to get my hair done I need your website to show me what hairstyles you've done and what services you can provide me–I need to see what they’ve done in the past so I can get it done in the future.
it's not clear what you are selling
We just discussed how your website is your digital portfolio and why it's important to have it in the first place, but if people don’t know what you do and what you’ve done, what’s the point? What you’re selling needs to be clear. People should know within the first 3 seconds that you’re a skincare brand, you’re a roofing brand, etc.Â
your brand story is missing
A brand story is important because it personalizes your website. It makes a customer feel like an individual, knowing why the brand has the product, services, or heart behind why they do it individualizes your buying experiences. Instead of feeling like another number or dollar. Connection is what sells!
your site is hard to navigate
I know we all have been on a confusing website before (I know I have), and it’s been so confusing to either get to where you want to go or how to purchase the product/service–which has probably swayed you from buying the product/service. Obviously, this is the opposite of what we want to be doing, so having a website that’s easy to navigate will not only help your customers out but will actually make you money.
So next time you’re looking at your website, put yourself in the shoes of your customer and think how you can make it not only easier on yourself but easier on them–show them what you’re selling, why you’re selling it, and make it easier for them to buy it.
