low engaging posts you need on social media

March 14, 2025

Sometimes the best posts for your brand are the ones that receive the least amount of likes and comments. Yes, you read that right.

3 types of low engaging posts you still need to posting

Every post on Instagram (if created with strategy behind it) serves a unique purpose (duh), and some will receive less engagement than others (double duh)—but, this doesn't reduce the value of those with lower engagement. Often times, posts with lower engagement are the ones that convert followers into customers. Here are 3 types of low engaging posts you can't forget to put on Instagram:

sales posts

The better you are at understanding the “why” the simpler it is to sell. The “why” of sales posts is not to get the most engagement, but to convince people to buy from you. The sole purpose of sales posts is to sell, right? Not the likes, comments or views. So go ahead, be salesy—even if the post receives less likes and comments than usual. That's the whole point.

testimonials

Let me paint you a picture. For two weeks straight, I saw face rollers pop up on my Instagram feed, and then started seeing them in ads. I saw it many times I got annoyed and vowed never to get the ice roller. Until yesterday, where one of my friends was raving about this ice roller and how it benefitted her in so many ways. What did I do? insert dramatic eye roll I bought the infamous ice roller.

The point of the story is not to harp on the ice roller, it''s about how the testimonials and honest opinions that my friend had on the ice rollers increased my interest to buy. When it comes to social media, seeing opinions/reviews on the products or service can sometimes be louder than the person selling. Allowing your audience to see client testimonials gives them an automatic eagerness/comfort to move forward with a purchase because they see an outsider making an honest review rather than you making a direct sale.

intro posts

In my opinion, intro posts are the most important type of posts for your instagram. They allow your audience to get to know you and your team while also understanding the culture and environment you are setting. It can give them an understanding of who you are as a person, what you stand for and the type of impact you want to make with your business/profile. It is one of the easiest ways to get your audience to know, like, and trust you—which we all know is necessary before they decide to purchase from you. Think about it, would you rather buy from a stranger or from someone that you feel like you know and like?

you got this!

And that's a wrap! I know we love to see those likes and comments under our posts, but in this case, it's all about quality over quantity. Try these posts on your instagram and report back on the results!
