your June trends and news recap
Welcome to the June trends and news recap! Every month, I’ll be your personal trainer on all things trends and social media (thank me later). Trust me, I know keeping up with all the social media trends can feel like a full-time job, so let me help you!
trend alert: Please, Please, Please by Sabrina Carpenter
Are you singing it in your head while reading this? I know I am! Sabrina Carpenter just released a new single called Please Please Please and it has taken the social media world by storm. This audio is a great way to hop on a trending audio and get some more engagement.
how to use it:
A line in the song is “heartbreak is one thing, my ego's another, I beg you don't embarrass me..." This is a great audio to use when you are pitching to someone or brainstorming ideas. This could be as simple as holding up an email you just sent and lip-syncing “I beg you don't embarrass me.”
trend alert: 'but baby, I'll love you til the day that I die'
This makes me giggle. People have been posting a two-slide photo carousel with the first slide showing a photo of them and then the second slide showing something that they'll love until the day they die.
how to use it:
This can be used on TikTok, REEL, or even a story post. I’ve seen some creative ways to show work-from-home essentials, or even get funny with this trend and show your favorite after-work drink or a funny email you received. This is a great piece of content for when you're trying to build a connection with your audience.
Instagram update: 'notes' feature
Instagram is testing out a feature where you can leave notes on feed posts and REEL posts, and this has only been released to a few users so far. These notes will disappear after three days, whereas comments last forever. This is an easy way to increase engagement, allowing for yet another way for users to connect to the app, and I'm interested to see how brands develop this!
how to use it:
Since the note feature disappears in 3 days, let's have some fun with it! This is a great way to personalize your profile and add some much-needed humor to Instagram, For example, if you were Starbucks: “scrolling on Instagram during the work day? someone clearly needs a coffee…”
Instagram update: 'text in carousel' feature
Instagram is testing out cool new features for carousel posts, allowing creators to add text overlays to individual images and rearrange images within the carousel post. The new text option allows you to overlay captions directly onto images.
how to use it:
This can provide a variety of new presentation options and possibilities, for explainer content, how-to guides, and more. Also, a great way to show off some creativity! This feature is also perfect for adding more context to photos in a larger carousel or giving more details in a smaller carousel.
Now its time to get on Instagram and start lip-syncing to some Sabrina and using all the new features Instagram so kindly gifted us.
